How Long Will $1,500,000 Last in Retirement?
Model constant real spending and return, with pension and Social Security starting when you choose.
Example estimate
Illustrative savings duration
100+ years
- Gap after both incomes start
- $2,000.00 / month
- Real return assumption
- 3.0%
An illustrative calculation. Review the assumptions below before using the result.
Income starts when you choose
The opening balance compounds monthly and the uncovered spending is removed at month-end. Pension and Social Security start at separate ages. All values are in today’s dollars and real return is after inflation. The simulation stops at exhaustion or 100 years; “100+” means it did not exhaust within that modeled horizon, not that it lasts forever.
Questions, answered.
Does this use my personal records?
No. Enter amounts or assumptions only. The site cannot retrieve an SSA earnings record, bank account, pension award or tax return.
Can I calculate with JavaScript turned off?
Yes. Each form sends a standard GET request and PHP calculates the result. JavaScript only improves the update and consent experience.
Why do the official numbers differ from my result?
Individual eligibility, exact dates, rounding, deductions and rules omitted from a simplified scenario can change the amount. Check the source and your own agency notice.
Can I print the calculation?
Use your browser’s print command. The inputs, result and assumptions remain; navigation and consent controls are removed from the printed view.
Check the sources.
